February Lawn and Garden Tip Sheet
-Depending on weather fertilize with 15-5-10 Lawn Special on Feb. 15th.
-Lawn aeration and soil amendments can be done by the end of the month.
-Time to plant Tomatoes and Peppers. Make sure protect from frosts, though.
-Use Southwest Premium Compost on the lawn (2-4 bags per 1,000 sq ft) to help
prepare the grass for any potential drought return.
-With the welcome rain, keep an eye out for brown patch as we start to warm up.
-Gold Finches are in town, we have lots of Nyger Thistle, their favorite food!
-Valentine's Day is the time to do heavy pruning and fertilizing on all your roses.
-Prune Crepe Myrtles as they bud out, and citrus trees before they bud.
