Summer Lawn and Garden Tip Sheet
-15-5-10 Premium Gold fertilizer can be applied again in July to give an extra feeding
over the summer.
-Watch the temperature and the water. St. Augustine grass should get 1 1/2 inches of
water a week. Watering twice a week and 20-30 minutes per section should do that.
-With the rain and rising temperatures the mosquitoes are going to be a problem.
Mosquito Beater can be sprayed over the entire lawn and mulched areas to kill off
mosquitoes for up to 4 weeks.
-By June start keeping an eye out for chinch bugs. Any dry or dead areas of the lawn,
especially near concrete, should be considered suspect of chinch bug damage. Feel
free to cut out a sample on the edge and bring it in here for identification.
-Don't forget to feed fruit and citrus trees. They can be fed three times a year, and
even in the summer, as long as they are watered well before and after feeding.
